Dublin artist, Pat Courtney embarks on his debut solo exhibition of Joycean portraits at The Ireland Institute in October.

James Joyce had a very strong self image and this was reflected in the photographs he carefully posed for throughout his career. This exhibition explores and plays on some of these moments of self portraiture which punctuate personal and professional episodes in his life.

Pat is stimulated by the process of creative figurative art and enjoys the engagement with strong personal imagery in portrait making. He taught English and History at Second Level for many years. He has painted portraits privately for many years, working on commissions.

The Ireland Institute is an Historical and Cultural Centre located in what was the family home of Patrick and Willie Pearse.
Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing measures will apply
