Polish artist, Iwona Blasi embarks on her debut solo exhibition at The Ireland Institute in November.
In Emerald Visions, Iwona responds to her interpretations and dreams of the Irish coastal, local, rural landscapes along with her vibrant cityscapes. Her work draws on her memories of these places, imagined moments and lasting impressions from her first visits to Ireland. The paintings include surreal and dreamy skylines, exaggerated colours, expressing a strong emotional connection with the places and people she has seen in this country.
Blasi has lived in Ireland since her mid 20’s. Her background is in Social Science, but her interest has always been in visual arts, with a particular fascination for the use of symbolism evident in many different cultures. This interest in visual arts, symbolism and nature can be seen in her practice. She has exhibited extensively in Ireland and now lives with her family and enjoys working with acrylics and experimenting with mixed media.
The Ireland Institute is an Historical and Cultural Centre located in what was the family home of Patrick and Willie Pearse.
