RUA
VACATION
Dublin artist Rua embarks on his first solo exhibition at The Ireland Institute in November.

Rua’s paintings capture a moment in time, featuring sharply defined figures or focal points of a landscape against an impressionist background. He has always had the compulsion and joy of endeavouring to place ideas into form by painting. Local scenes and scenes from his travels permeate his colourful practice.

Rua has followed a number of career paths in his life, but began painting at Secondary School and continued his studies by taking portraiture classes in NCAD. He never lost this passion and has focused on painting for the last decade. Influenced by Old Masters such as Velazquez, he is also appreciate of Modern Realists such as John Singer Sargent and Edward Hopper.

The Ireland Institute is an Historical and Cultural Centre located in what was the family home of Patrick and Willie Pearse.
